Hypnosis for insomnia works to help allow body and mind to relax and release anxiety that may be preventing you from falling asleep either when you first go to bed or if you wake up and are not able to return to sleep. Hypnotherapy for insomnia is often used in support with other treatments you may be receiving from your GP.
We will work together to look at ways that can help you switch off before you sleep and different techniques to help you fall or return to sleep. The techniques will include self-hypnosis for you to use as and when needed to help sleep.
The hypn-psychotherapy sessions will look at what is causing insomnia, it may, for example, be underlying anxieties such as a past stressful life event which initially caused sleep issues and has been carried on and as such has become 'normal' behaviour. Another common behaviour pattern is when lack of sleep is what you expect following a run of not being able to sleep and you, therefore, feel as if you have forgotten how to sleep properly.
